School Tools Annual Project

School Tools is an annual project of Communities in Schools in North Carolina that during the month of August brings good people together to make essential school supplies available to children who would otherwise go without.

Beginning August 3 and continuing through August 19, area sponsors will become collection points for donations of:

  • Bookbags/Backpacks
  • Notebook paper
  • Pencils
  • Crayons
  • Colored pencils
  • Three-ring binders
  • Rulers

Communities in Schools (CIS) of Rowan County invites you to participate in this brief but vital project. Last year, CIS of Rowan and community partners assembled more than 500 bookbags filled with supplies and distributed to kids in need as the school year began.

Here’s how you can help!

  • Place a donation box in your office and encourage co-workers to contribute items. If you would like for us to provide a container, please give us a call! We can bring one to your site and pick it up at the close of the School Tools drive.
  • Or, if you are able, make a cash donation to CIS Rowan and we will make purchases of our most needed item – backpack style bookbags.

Either way, children in our community are counting on CIS and community partners to help them start the school year prepared for success!

Call or email

Scott Bannister, CIS-Rowan Executive Director (704) 797-0210

Ron Turbyfill, CIS-Rowan Board Chair (704) 754-0262

Thank you for your support of Rowan-Salisbury school children!
